Traditional curette blades provide a long cutting edge active at a specific angle, with only a few millimeters that can be safely adapted subgingivally.
The O’Hehir curette designs feature tiny, scooped blades with full 310° cutting edges that adapt to tooth surfaces more easily. Since the round back of the O’Hehir blade is smooth and comfortable against the pocket wall, inserting them subgingivally produces much less tissue distention than any other curette, allowing for subgingival scaling and root planing with less trauma.
Supragingivally, the broad cutting edge and concave shape make them particularly useful for removing lingual stains. They may be used with a push or pull stroke, resulting in greater efficiency and less hand fatigue.
