After tooth preparation, the anterior midline and the horizontal plane are often difficult to determine, yet they are critical to communicate to the lab for accurate fabrications of esthetic restorations. Invented by a dentist, the Cosmetic Aligner® Midline and Horizontal Plane Transfer Device improves critical esthetic restoration communications.
The Cosmetic Aligner is easier, faster and more economical than sophisticated articulation equipment. Together with any quick-set bite material, the compact one-piece device registers the anterior midline between central incisors and the horizontal plane. By only recording centrals, it reduces material waste and cumbersome, inaccurate cross-stick bite impression methods.
To use, simply fill the upper portion of the aligner with bite material. Position the aligner over the preps where the midline and horizontal planes are desired. After hardening, remove the aligner and fill the lower portion with bite material. Reposition the aligner on the upper prepared teeth and have the patient bite down lightly to make an impression of the lower teeth. At the lab, the technician mounts the aligner onto the working model and marks the midline and horizontal planes. A final check of the completed crowns or veneers is done by removing the upper bite material and placing the lower impression on the articulated models. 50 disposable cosmetic aligners per box.
